Feed Google the good stuff…

You often hear the ‘magic bullet’ or ‘special sauce’ doesn’t exist in SEO but I beg to differ.

Good Food for Google

Feed Google the good stuff: create compelling content that Google can easily feed to its customers (you and me), and bonus points for making it compelling enough that people want to link to it.

Remember, Google is a solution provider; you ask a question and Google’s goal is to provide quick answers that are relevant, creditable and benefit its users by adding value.

Panda/Farmer update

Those who closely follow SEO will be aware of a recent Google algorithm update where sites offering low quality content have downgraded by Google.  This Panda/Farmer update rewards original content, plays down copied content and encourages you to add value wherever possible in your community and industry.

Sites with masses of dull content which are often ‘thin’, copied or duplicate and have a low ratio of external links to the total number of combined pages are likely to suffer.  This update has already been rolled out in the US and will follow in the UK.

What to write about?

It doesn’t have to be purely commercial content either! Commercial content tends to always targets the money keywords that will bring you direct business. Doing this alone is a big mistake many businesses make when blogging. If you are to add value to your industry and help Google provide answers, you need to think a little more broadly.

What is your story? Why is different? Is it interesting enough to bring people back? Is remarkable enough to encourage links to your site?

Ok, I’ve had some fun in this post and we all know there are limited supplies of Google dust to sprinkle on your website, but continue to feed Google great content that folks want to link to and Google will love you forever and ever!
